Tourism was the first growth area in the 1990s, from which many of the European now buying there discovered the town.

Guven talks about how the number of Europeans in Dalaman is on the rise and how Dalaman has turned into a giant construction site due to interest from abroad, with new houses going up every other day. "There are even housing complexes built specifically with the European in mind here," he said. "According to figures from the property title department, there are currently 1000 homes that have been sold to Europeans people. In addition, there are 2,000 more awaiting approval right now.
